15-14 win over Nothing in Common box score For several seasons, we were one of the few teams that could beat Nothing in Common. This time, we led early but they kept chipping away; eventually, it was tied 14-14 after five innings...and six innings...and seven. We went to extra innings, they scored two and then we scored three, the winning run coming on Richard's single and Doris' mad dash from second to home, beating the throw by seconds to give us the win! |

12-3 win over Nut Busters box score The Nut Busters were a good team who always played us close. On this particular day, it had rained a lot, the infield was a mud-pit, the outfield was a swamp. Honestly, I'm not sure how we were allowed to play that day, but play we did. Both teams played a tight game for three innings, then we broke through for four runs in the fourth, and six more in the seventh to take a commanding lead and break their spirit. It was a good win over a good team on a nasty day. |

13-12 win over Barrel of Monkeys, round 1 of tournament box score The Barrel of Monkeys had beaten us in the regular season, and we weren't sure how it happened. We got them again in the first round of the playoffs and played a see-saw game in which the lead changed several times. With the score tied 7-7 we went into the last inning and scored six, then held them to five to win our first tournament game ever at Keswick. random trivia: the Monkeys team merged with the Bombers team after that spring to form the juggernaut known as Silent-K. |

14-11 win over Bellsouth for tournament championship box score We'd beaten Bellsouth in the regular season with some strong offense and defense, and after rolling over the High Balls in round one of the tournament, we met Bellsouth for all the marbles. They held us to a goose egg in the top of the first, and then they came out and scored seven. We didn't give up, though; we came right back with twelve in the top of the second. We never gave up the lead after that, and our defense kicked in, eventually giving us the first-place tournament trophy. |

15-14 win over International Bowl box score This was a case of us playing poorly against a mediocre team for most of the game; after three complete innings, we were down 6-13. Nobody scored in the fourth or fifth, and they didn't score in the top of the sixth, and then we got three, making it 9-13. We held them to one and them rallied for six in the bottom of the seventh, winning with a walk-off hit as Theresa scored on Andy's single! |

13-7 win over Mixed Nuts box score We've faced Rocky and Tim's teams since 1997, and we even beat one offshoot of them in the spring of 2000, but they brought the Mixed Nuts to Keswick and were crushing the competition. Nothing in Common...Dakota...Silent-K...all had fallen to the Nuts this season. We got them at a particularly bad time, as we were 0-7 and in a slump. But on this night, somehow, we found the magic, scoring ten in the bottom of the first and playing outstanding defense for the entire game. When the smoke cleared, everyone was shocked - the umpires, the other teams watching, and especially the Mixed Nuts. There we were with a 13-7 win over one of the top teams in the league, for our first victory of the season! |
