18-9 win over Muckdogs box score This is one of those teams who we always stack up well against on paper, but then they always beat the crap out of us. Not this time. We announced our presence immediately with an 11-run outburst in the first inning, and there were big extra-base hits aplenty as we never trailed in this game. |

18-17 win over ESAB box score We led for five innings, but they scored nine in the top of the final inning to take a 17-16 lead. After one out, a single and a double put the tying run on third and the winning run on second. A walk loaded the bases for Gregg, who singled hard to the infield and batted in the tying run. With the bases still loaded and the winning run at third with two outs, our ever-reliable sub Meg singled to right-center to win the game for us. |

24-7 win over Nothing in Common box score This was a pretty tight game for six innings, after which we were ahead 12-6. Then we exploded in the top of the 7th for 12 more runs to assert ourselves further against a team who usually beats up on us. This game, like the ESAB one above, is proof that any team in this league can come back at any time with a big inning. |

20-11 win over Dakota box score An 11-run bottom of the first was just the beginning, as we hit and hit and hit some more. This was the game in which our 6 women got on base 17 out of 20 times they came up to bat. It was a big win over a big rival who had all of their best players there (no matter whether they think so or not.) |

Venom summer post-season tournament (mens' league, not co-ed) season and tournament summary This isn't DH co-ed softball but it's a great story and deserves inclusion in 2010's softball highlights. We had quite a summer season; we won in week 1, lost in week 2, and then we did something amazing: we won in weeks 3, 4, and 5 with three consecutive late-inning comebacks! In fact, we didn't lose again all season, finishing 9-1 and taking first place in the league. This dominance continued throughout the tournament, as we had a first-round bye, then won 21-5, 12-2, and 13-7 to take first place in the tournament and earn the big trophy. |

16-13 win over Bombers box score After a miserable 1-3 start to this season, we rebounded strong to finish 5-5, beating the eventual #1, #2, and #3 teams once each in the second half of the season. This was the final regular-season game and we had to win it to finish .500 - but the Bombers were sitting at #1 with a 8-1 record and five guys who could all hit home runs. A lot of great pitching and defense kept us in the game, but barely, as we were down 2-13 after four. We needed to hit to survive and we did, scoring 5 in the top of the fifth, sparked by Charles' determination to turn a solid triple into an "oh crap!" inside-the-park home run. Fired up, we held them scoreless in the bottom of the fifth, and entered the sixth down 7-13 and with no time left on the clock. A 9-run outburst put us up 16-13, and we blanked them in the bottom of the inning to hold on for a great comeback win. |
